Robert (Bob) Hollingsbee and his wife Kathleen of Tilmanstone have between them amassed a unique library of photographs and articles about Dover and East Kent's history. They have kindly provided snippets of their collection for the Dover Society to use on this website. Bob Hollingsbee followed in his father's footsteps in working for the Dover Express.  His father was Edwin, known to his colleagues as "Eddie".
Bob was first a reporter (he has excellent shorthand skills) and was then promoted to a sub-editor. He later worked as a sub-editor on both the Dover Express and its stablemate the Folkestone Herald and his work for the newspapers totalled over 50 years. Both newspapers carried his highly popular Memories series for several years, and he has also had three books on Dover history published. Kathleen has helped families trace their family histories. The couple, who have a son (Edwin), working in the media, also take a great interest in cacti and succulents and have recently compiled a pictorial journey on DVD about their village entitled Bygone Tilmanstone, produced and directed by Deal Camcorder Club.
