A meeting of The Dover Society on Monday enjoyed a talk by Wendi Atherton on military units at Dover Castle
and
Quiz by Jack Woolford.

Wendi Atherton
Wendi Atherton, the wife of a former Deputy Constable of Dover Castle, enthralled members of The Dover Society with a talk on Monday about troops who have garrisoned Dover Castle from Roman times to the 20th century.
Mrs Atherton has been studying the subject for nearly 25 years and is planning a book on what she has discovered.
She reported there were times when officials in charge of the castle were receiving money from the king for the defence of the fort yet not supplying sufficient troops to guard it.

Jack Woolford
In a second part of the meeting former society chairman Jack Woolford screened a photographic quiz with 25 subjects of interest to The Dover Society.
Trio of winners were:chairman Terry Sutton, vice-chairman Derek Leach and treasurer Captain Mike Weston.
