REPORT
General Meeting
on Monday 17th January 2005
in St Mary's Hall, Dover Kent, England UK
Former chairman Terry Sutton was called upon to fill the gap left as a result of the non attendance of the visiting speaker. He opted to talk about the various men (and one woman) who over the years had held the dual appointments of Lord Wardens of the Cinque Ports and Constables of Dover Castle.
Despite attrocious weather there was a good attendance at The Dover Society's public meeting at St Mary's parish centre on Monday. But there was disappointment that one of two advertised speakers was unable to attend.
Society chairman Derek Leach gave a most interesting talk about his career in the Customs service from which he retired in 1998. Derek's talk include the time he served in the RAF, for his National Service, working at the Air Ministry in London.
